Festival of the Winds - Bondi Beach

Festival of the Winds at Bondi Beach is one of the largest and best known kite festivals in the world, attracting 40,000+ visitors every year. Come September the skies will be full of kites of all sizes and shapes flown by professional local and international kite flyers

This year marks the festival’s 40th anniversary, and features a main stage with live performances, food stalls, roaming performers, kite making workshops, jumping castles, puppet show, face painting, craft making, art show and installations and amateur kite flying competitions.

Redcliffe Kite Fest

This fabulous weekend long festival was held last week. Unfortunately Sunday activities had to be cancelled due to bad weather. But they will be back next year, so make sure you pop it in the diary! Redcliffe is a beachside village, just 40 min drive north of Brisbane.

Families will get swept away in the fun, colour and excitement of the annual Redcliffe KiteFest where kites of all shapes and sizes fill the sky. Redcliffe KiteFest is the Ultimate Kids Weekend. The whole family will love the markets, huge array of live music and amazing roving performers.

Tickets can be pre-purchased online or at the entry gates on Festival weekend. Entry into KiteFest After Dark is included with Saturday tickets.

Brisbane Kite Festival

The Brisbane Kite Festival is a fantastic day for the whole family with the most spectacular kites ever seen over the skies of Brisbane. A sea of colour highlights beautifully crafted masterpieces. Don't look up too long or you'll miss the action on the ground: food and market stalls, kite workshops, and lots of entertainment! Entry is free! This is event is organised by the Rotary Clubs of Balmoral, Carindale, and Port of Brisbane with special assistance by Phoenix Kite Collective and sponsored by Brisbane City Council.

Adelaide International Kite Festival

The Adelaide International Kite Festival is a free community event that is held annually at Semaphore Beach in South Australia on the Easter Long Weekend. In 2019 the festival will be celebrating its 10th year.

Expect international and national kite flying experts, a foreshore market with over 40 stallholders selling kites, sweets, gourmet cultural food, face painting and children’s clothing, live entertainment and hundreds of colourful kites flown by professional kite-flyers in the skies over Semaphore. Visitors are encouraged to bring their kites along and join in on the fun in a designated public flying area on the beach.

Rosebud Kite Festival

This is Victoria’s premier kite festival — people flock to Rosebud beach to watch internationally acclaimed kite flyers from across Australia and New Zealand fly their spectacular maxi kites including sea creatures such as dolphins, whales, sting rays and octopus together with winged dragons and floating astronauts.

Celebrating its 15th year next year, this popular festival is packed with free family activities, circus workshops, kite workshops, kite craft, carnival rides, roving entertainment and food stalls.
